Band of February

Club Fandango consistently brings fantastic new bands to 229 and the arrival of Superhet Receiver was no different. Playing first is never an easy slot but the venue was packed out for the arrival of the Dorchester 5 piece with industry and punters vying for a decent view of a band that are rising quickly and deservedly.
The influences on Superhet Receiver are obvious; from the atmospheric electronic accompaniments of Simian Mobile Disco fused with the intertwining guitar pickings of Foals via some heavy Bloc Party riffs, this band are a tour de force of everything new and innovative that is filling current music press.
However, it is Superhet Receiver’s live show that really propels this band above and beyond, at least until more recordings are completed. The complex, punchy rhythms are accompanied with swirling jams as band members switch instruments throughout the set. Their set is fuelled with seemingly nervous energy, a band whose passion for their songs courses through them at an alarming rate, ensuring a relentless yet perfectly controlled performance.
With the possibility of upcoming recording dates and a surefire return to 229, Superhet Receiver are our favourite February band.
